Importance of motors:

How motors are saving human energy

Motors are the greatest inventions in history. Motors not only save human energy but also save time. We can see the uses of motors everywhere. Without motors, we can’t think about any kind of mechanical instrument such as fan, analog clock, vehicle and so on. The importance of motors can’t be finished by writing about it.

Definition of motor:

The motor is a mechanical instrument that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy and creates motion as well. Motors are used to proceed with any kind of forward or reverse movement. For instance, motors are used to make remote control cars. While we control the car with the remote, we can move it forward and backward using the button on the remote. Those movements are created by the motor in the car.

Different types of motors:

There are different types of motors. AC motors and DC motors. Again, there are some types of motors under these two motors. The following picture gives us an overall idea about different types of motors.

 DC Motors:

DC means direct current. DC motors are types of motors that can be controlled by the supply of voltage. DC motor was invented by Edison. DC motors are very easy to control which means it can start quickly, accelerate and stop. They are used in electric vehicles, tools and so on. DC motors can be brushed and brushless. The following picture shows the brush and brushless motor:

Brushed motors have fixed speed and the life of a brushed motor can be extended by rebuilding. On the other hand, brushless motors have a higher speed range and it can be controlled.

AC Motors:

AC means alternating current. AC motor was invented by Nikola Tesla. AC motors are motors that are powered from alternative current and controlled by frequency. An AC motor doesn’t have brushes and commutator and its electric-magnetic field rotates where in DC motors armature rotates and the electric magnetic field stays static. If we imagine an AC motor, we will think of two parts which are stator and rotor. So, in the AC motor only rotor rotates, and stator remains in the same simple position. Since there are no commutators and brushes, AC motors are controlled by frequency and it runs a long period. AC motors can be divided into synchronous motors and induction motors. Synchronous motors are best for those types of instruments that will rotate at a constant speed. Besides, induction motors are used for smaller loads such as they are used in compressors, pumps, conveyors and so on. The following picture is an example of an AC motor:

Conclusion:

In our everyday life motors are helping us by saving our time and energy. If you get on a vehicle or go to the laundry and so on, you will feel the importance of it. Variations in motors making the task more easily because then we have certain motors to do certain works. Therefore, in history, motors are the greatest inventions.
